Patricia Anne Schmig, 77, of Belvidere, died Monday, February 18, 2008 in Swedish-American Hospital following a long illness. Born August 14, 1930 in Strongs Prairie, Wis., the daughter of Edward J. and Ella L. (Jensen) Crowley. She was married to Gale Schmig on August 21, 1948 in Monroe Center, Wis. She was employed by St. Joseph’s Hospital and by the Winnebago County Judicial system. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, serving as Sunday School Superintendent. She was heavily involved in Boy Scouting, serving as a Den Mother; created the Medical Explorer Post 468; Boy Scout commissioner Blackhawk Council, 1980; and she received the highest award for women in scouting the Silver Fawn award in 1971. She was involved in PTA; and served as President of BHS Band Parents and was a lifelong member of Mensan. She is survived by two daughters, Anne Bauer, Huntsville, Ala.; Linda (Terry) Mohaupt, Rockford; two sons, Richard (Julie) Schmig; Mark Schmig, Belvidere; nine grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Griffen; Nancy Goodwin and Shirley Mills; and brother, Edward (Rose) Crowley.
